You see the main objective with your online business is to build a customer and client list.  The main objective with your website is not to sell your visitor, but to capture their email address.  Well actually your website has two main objectives, pre-selling your visitor on your products and services as well capture their email address.  Today I am only talking about capturing your visitors email address and building your opt-in list.

Ok, you may be asking right now. Colin what exactly is an opt-in list and why would people
want to give me their email address? 

Well the answer is, your opt-in list is a list of people that have given you their email address in return for something
of value. 

Ok, now you may be asking, but Colin what can I offer of any value?

Well the answer is that this can be a mini email course, an ezine, a free report, or even just a mailing list of people
who want to know when you update your website. 

So now you may be asking, or saying to yourself, but I am not guru and I have not made millions on the Internet what can I teach or tell people that will make them want to learn from me?

Ok now, lets just hold on a minute here. The answer to this question is actually more simple than you think.

You see you are already both teacher and student. You are always learning from someone, just as there is always
someone learning from you. Think back to grade school when you had grades 1. The reason for 12 different
grades is because some students are a little more advanced or ahead of you and at the same time you were a little
more advanced or ahead of others. Well this is true as well with Internet marketing or promoting MLM and Affiliate Programs.

So the point is that there is always someone that can learn from what you know.

Ok, so with all that said, lets get started building your opt-in list.



Here are a few key features to consider before building your list:

1. Content - This almost goes without saying, but is very much worth commenting on. The best thing to do before you start building a subscriber base is to create some content articles. You want to have some quality information of good value ready to send your subscribers when they subscribe or opt-in to your list.

2. Personalize your emails - This is actually a very important element to your emails that you send out to your subscribers. You want your subscribers to feel as though you are taking to them and not a group of people. This is done by including their name in the emails you send out to them.

3. Brand your name - This is simply sending emails to your list from YOU, not some company name.
Think of all the emails you get right now in your inbox. Which of those emails look more friendly? Are they the emails sent to you by some company such as ABC Marketing Firm, or by a friendly name like Colin Meunier? -- <grin> -- Well I tell you I much rather get emails from the author and not a company name.


Ok, so now that you have the basics for creating the content and articles lets get you some subscribers.


The first tool you are going to need to build your list of suscribers is a list management system. A list management system is a tool that will manage all your list of subscribers so you can send an email out to the whole list at the same time. This is where an autoresponder comes in. The autoresponder will make your life much easier.

Now getting the subscribers:

For getting subscribers or opt ins for your list I recommend advertising a leadcapture page and getting people to opt in.

You see when I get people opting into that page to request more info about the 1Step System they are then forwarded to the my main 1Step System website right after.  Then I am also able to continue to follow up with these people again and again about the 1 Step System as well as other products and services that I promote.

So how and where do you advertise your leadcapture page? 
Well I will get into that in step 6.


Step 4. - Choosing right programs for income


Part (A) "Immediate income".

This is where I choose a program to lead with in my marketing promotions.   Programs that require a one time payment to buy or get involved with make great front end products that will lead to residual income programs as back end products and programs.  Another key element to look for when choosing a  front end program to lead with is the education factor.  I prefer to lead with a program that will actually empower a person with the right marketing skills and mindset so that they will succeed and get into profit right away. 

I would suggest you lead with a higher ticket dicrect pay program so that you have the opportunity to generate cashflow right away to put into your business and pay for your advertising and then build residual income on the backend with other programs.

Part (B) "Residual income".

How would you like a portfolio of residual income programs that pays you income monthly? Now that may seem like a dumb question but many people still think in ways of linear income and not residual income.  When you are working for linear income you are looking to make a sale and get paid, right? However, with linear income you will only get paid once for that sale.

Here's some thoughts about the power of residual income streams..

You spend the exact same effort to promote a product that pays you a one time $10 commission as you do to promote a product that pays you $10 every month.


In residual programs, the effort you spend today continues to pay you long after the work is done.  This is where your financial security will come from. 
Most successful networkers will take a long-term approach with building residual income streams.  I suggest building residual income with multiple programs for greater stability.  Pick one or two programs and build them to the point of self-building, and then continue to build others.  I also find that the best programs to build residual income with are tools.  I recommend tools because they have higher retention.  When someone buys a tool from you that they have to pay monthly for they will not drop it because they are not making money, because they bought the program for the purpose of the tool.  Lets take webhosting for example.  When someone buys into a webhosting program from you because they need to host a website they will remain a customer for a long time.  (if your webhosting company is good)

Tools that will create residual income

Some residual income programs I recommend building an income with are tools that you and other marketers will need as well to build a primary business.  So with that, I don't recommend the following programs for primary businesses, but I recommend you  get them all as needed tools.

Step 5. -  Set up your own websites with autoresponders
  

If you are serious and want to create income with any MLM or affiliate program you need your own website, with your own content that will pre-sell your program.  With having your own website you have the opportunity of promoting YOU as well as your affiliate programs.  The first thing yoHiu will be promoting is YOU.
